The Pacific Vine Maple is an understory plant in its natural environment. As a large shrub or small tree it can be found in dense shade under a canopy of conifers, or at the edge of woodland environments where with more sun it can develop a more rounded habit. Typically multi-trunked, low-branching vine maples can grow an alluring silhouette. In winter when the stunning orange, yellow or purple leaves are gone, the beautiful olive green or deep red bark is revealed and brings welcomed seasonal interest to the landscape.
